Biography

A dedicated mental health advocate and policy advisor, Sumira has spent her career focused on improving lives and driving meaningful change. With degrees in neuropsychology (BSc) and management (BBA), she brings a deep understanding of both health care and economic challenges. As a primary researcher at Harvard, she conducted neuroscience research aimed at improving access to care and strengthening public health systems.

Committed to service from a young age, Sumira has volunteered extensively, including at Women’s College Hospital, where she supported community-based health initiatives. She currently serves as the Regional Vice President for Central West at the Ontario Women’s Commission, championing women’s rights and expanding opportunities for communities across the province.

Combining her expertise in neuroscience and health advocacy, Sumira co-founded VAIYZ, a company dedicated to transforming medical imaging through AI-driven solutions that enhance diagnostic accuracy and improve patient outcomes worldwide. Her work with VAIYZ has been recognized internationally and was even featured in Yahoo Finance for its groundbreaking contributions to health care innovation.

A strong advocate for youth engagement in politics and policy, Sumira is committed to leadership that listens and delivers. She is running to undo the damage caused by Doug Ford’s government—restoring investments in health care, strengthening public education, and making life more affordable for families in Mississauga Centre.
